KIDDIE LIST 8-17-11

This weekend’s stakes races for two year olds include the Continental Mile from Monmouth and Louisiana Cup Juvenile & Juvenile Fillies from Louisiana Downs, plus the usual assortment of maiden and allowance races.

Today includes two day’s worth of works. The top breezes are highlighted for easier reading.

From now until the end of the year, we’ll see longer race distances and the babies bred to be two turn runners will start to make an appearance in the maiden ranks. You can keep track of these babies through free virtual stable email notification systems at:

Cascina (Dixie Union - Isabeau, by Prospector's Pick) she’s a half sister to Bingo, a stake winning turf miler and to multiple stakes winning router Beau Brass. She’s also a half to a stakes placed runner.

Smoke Train (Medaglia d'Oro - Stormy Spell, by Tsunami Slew) She’s a half to G3 winner Malabar Gold and G1 Stakes placed Critical Factor. Her unraced dam is a ¾ sister to the French G1 winner Seattle Song and a half to the multiple stakes winning veteran Lucky Spell. Lucky Spell is the grand-dam of sires Unbridled’s Song, Drewman and Lucky Pulpit.

Ali's Lake (Salt Lake - Alashir's World, by Spinning World) she’s a half sister to Antares World, heroine of the California Oaks and G1 placed in the American Oaks over the turf. A half brother was in the money in 4 of 7 starts over the turf and the dam won 2 of 5 over the lawn.

Never Ending Love (Unusual Heat - Love Emblem, by Our Emblem) three of four half siblings are winners and one is a winner over the turf. Her dam is a half sister to Florida stakes winner Check It Twice. Third dam Christmas Past was Champion Three Year Old Filly of 1982. The great Alydar and sires Grand Slam and Leestown were produced by this distaff line.

Hard to Know (Hard Spun - Cozzena, by Cozzene) She’s a half sister to the multiple graded stakes turf mare Megan’s Bluff. Their dam is stakes placed over the dirt.

Aqueduct Tuesday 8/16:

Rise Against (Discreet Cat - Yolie's Choice, by Silver Deputy) (C) 5F 1:05.05 gate breeze. His dam placed in two starts and she is a half sister to Upcoming Story who placed in the La Troienne (G3,7.5F) and Dogwood (G3,8F). Rise Against’s half brother needed 5 tries to win his maiden, but he finished in the money in his four previous attempts. The second dam is a G3 stakes winner from Argentina.

Aqueduct Wednesday 8/17:

BLACK RHINO (El Corredor - Foreign Aid, by Danzig) (C) 5F :58.69 (1/17) handily. In his last start, Black Rhino was fourth in the Sanford Stakes. His underachieving dam placed in some listed stakes but was out of the money in all graded attempts. Black Rhino’s distaff family is racing royalty. His dam is a half sister to Champion mare Inside Information, dam of Champion Filly Smuggler. She’s also a half to the top race mare Educated Risk. His second through fourth dams are all blue hens.

Arlington Tuesday 8/16:

Horizontal Mickey (Forest Wildcat - Runner's High, by El Corredor) (G) 4F :46.20 (1/20) handily. The gelding won his debut in May. He doesn’t have any blacktype in the first two generations of his distaff family, but he is noted here for his bullet work.

Shes Down With Jim (Bring the Heat - Nea Nea Denae, by Bertrando) (F) 4F :46.40 (2/20) handily. She won her debut in June. She doesn’t have any blacktype in the first three generations of her distaff family, but she is noted here for his swift work.

Stephanie's Kitten (Kitten's Joy - Unfold the Rose, by Catienus) (F) 4F :49.60 (13/20) breezing. She won her second start in the beginning of the month. She’s the first foal produced by her unraced dam. Her second dam Bail Out Becky was a good multiple stakes race mare and her major accomplishment was a win in the Del Mar Oaks (G1).

Arlington Wednesday 8/17:

No Spin (Johannesburg - Dash for Money, by General Meeting) (C) 5F 1:00.00 (1/30) breezing. He won his second start in the beginning of the month. He’s the third foal (all colts) produced by his dam and both half brothers are winners. His dam placed in the Railbird Stakes (G3 7F). She’s a half to listed winner Flaming Heart and the second dam Hot Lear is a multiple stakes winner. The third, fourth and fifth dams all have blacktype.

Lydia's Angel (Leelanau - Exceptional Chance, by American Chance) (F) 4F :47.40 (1/34) handily gate. She’s a half to stakes placed Military Legend. Her dam is a half to stakes winners Top Cash and Gentleman James. The second dam Exceptional Value is a listed stakes winner.

Hammers Terror (Artie Schiller - Sister Baby, by Lord Avie) (C) 4F 48:00 (3/34) breezing. He has four half siblings, three raced, with one winner. His unraced dam is a half to the multiple graded stakes warrior Kingdom Found. The second dam won a listed stakes.

Lady Citron (Langfuhr - Lemon Flower, by Lemon Drop Kid) (F) ) 4F 48:00 (3/34) breezing. She’s the second foal produced by her dam. Her half sister is unraced. Her dam won her second start and placed twice in eight races. She’s a half to the dam of Southern Exchange winner of the Victoria and Colin stakes at two. The second dam Winnetka is a stakes winner and a half to BC Turf champ Fraise. The third dam Zalataia won the Oak Tree Invitational (G1).

Nachas and Joy (Lion Heart - Competent Sort, by Cahill Road) (C) 4F :48.40 (6/34) breezing. He’s a full brother to That’s A Good Thing, who was third in the Prairie Meadows Freshman (PrM,6F). His dam is a stakes placed half sister to the multiple listed stakes winner Derivative. The second dam Coup de Fusil set a new track record in the Delaware Handicap, getting 1 ¼ miles in 1:59 4/5. She’s a multiple G1 winner.

Belmont Tuesday 8/16:

Balance the Budget (Bellamy Road - Every Day Is Good, by El Corredor) (C) 4F :50.10 (7/18) He’s the first foal produced by his unraced dam. His dam is a half to stakes placed Allude. Not much to note about this immediate distaff family, although the third dam Sharon Brown produced Champion Holy Bull.

Market Princess (After Market - Noble Idea, by Deputy Minister) (F) 4F :50.10 (7/18) she’s the third foal and filly produced by her dam. Both half sisters started, one is a winner. Her dam is an unraced half sister to Santa Monica Handicap (G1) heroine Key Phrase, who is the dam of sire Yankee Gentleman and she’s also the grand-dam of freshman sire Half Ours.

Wild Idle (Seeking the Gold - Storm Song, by Summer Squall) (F) 3F :39.97 (8/13) breezing. She’s the tenth foal produced by the 1996 Champion Juvenile Storm Song. None of her half siblings have blacktype and those who made it to the track are lightly raced.

The first two distaff generations hold no blacktype, but this is the family of Way Of Light, Champion 2YO in France, and the third dam Coup de Folie gave us the top sire Machiavellian, Champion 2 YO French Filly Coup De Genie (dam of Champion 2 YO Filly Denebola & Granddam of Champion 2 YO European Colt Bago).

Do the Charleston (Master Command - Sisti's Pride, by Forestry) (F) 4F :47.80 (1/28) gate breeze. She’s thethird foal produced by her dam and both half siblings are winners. Her dam and second dam are G3 stakes placed and the third dam is the granddam of top handicap horse Albert The Great.

Exothermic (Empire Maker - Irridescence, by Caesour) (C) 4F :49.00 (9/28) breezing. He’s the first foal produced by his dam who was co-Champion 3YO Filly in South Africa. She is a Grade/Group 1 winner in three countries and placed in the Beverly D. (G1) in the US.

Quick Silver Song (Unbridled's Song - Saudi Poetry, by Storm Cat) (F) 4F :49.00 (9/28) breezing. Her full brother and sister and a half brother have all raced but none have won. Her dam won 5 of 15 starts including a Grade 3 race.

Sharp N Pretty (Sharp Humor - Couldabeenabenz, by Marquetry) (F) 4F :48.00 (4/28) gate breeze. She’s a half sister to One Smooth Ride, winner of the Display Stakes (Wo,8.5F) as a juvenile. Five of her six half siblings have raced and won.

Me and My Gals (Sky Mesa - Kisses for My Gal, by Unbridled) (C) 5F 1:01.20 (5/20) gate breeze. He has two full siblings. His sister needed 10 starts to win her maiden, while his brother won in his third start. Their dam is unraced and has no notable siblings. The second dam is Kentucky Oaks heroine Gal in a Ruckus.

Churchill Wednesday 8/17:

Good Deed (Broken Vow - Hidden Assets, by Mt. Livermore)(F) 4F :48.80 (3/23) breezing. She was sixth in her debut in early August at Saratoga. She’s a half sister to the multiple stakes winning sprinters Country Day (who breezed a bullet today over the same surface) and Due Date. Their dam won the Shirley Jones Handicap (G3) and placed in four other stakes. She’s a half to G3 winner Smooth Runner. This female family produced the multiple G1 winner Codex.

Del Mar Tuesday 8/16:

Evelyn's Dancer (Songandaprayer - Seraphic Too, by Southern Halo) (F) 5F 1:00.02 (2/26) handily. This filly has won both of her two starts, including an allowance at Del Mar. She’s a half to listed stakes placed Steve’s Big Moe. Two of three other half siblings are winners. Her dam is a winning half sister to stakes winners John Paul Too and Too Scarlet. The second dam Lady She Is Too is a stakes winner.

I Sense Your Luck (Street Sense - Racing Luck, by Out of Place) (F) 5F 1:01.20 (10/26) handily. She won her debut at Del Mar. Her dam is a listed stakes winner, but that’s it for blacktype in the first two generations.

Ring It Up (Toccet - Noontime Angel, by Successful Appeal) (C) 4F :46.40 (2/22) handily. He’s the second foal produced by his dam and his half sister is a winner. Their unraced dam is a half sister to the multiple stakes winner Wheels Up At Noon and stakes winner Mad ‘Bout You.

Dance Thewayyouare (Mineshaft - Diversa, by Tabasco Cat)(F) 4F :47.80 (5/22) She was 11th in her debut at Del Mar (8/7). She is a half sister to Hollywood Oaks (G3) placed Love Theway Youare. All five of her half siblings are winners and her dam is a stakes winner. Her dam’s half sister have produced first crop sire Saint Anddan, G2 winner Street Sounds and her stakes winning half sis Silver Highlight.

Gun Boat (Congrats - White Ruffle, by Vigors) 4F :48.00 (6/22) handily. He won his debut at Del Mar (8/6). Four out of six of his half siblings are winners and his dam is a winning half sister to a listed stakes winner. No other blacktype in the family, but they are all durable runners.

In Deep (Tiznow - Beholden, by Cat Thief) (C) 4F :48.20 (7/22) He was 10th in his debut at Del Mar (8/6). He has a precocious distaff family. In Deep is the second foal for his dam. His half brother Behold De buy won the Gold Rush Futurity as a juvenile. His second and third dams were juvenile stakes winners.

Zella (El Corredor - Kaydara, by Kris S.) (F) 4F :49.00 (9/22) handily. She’s the second foal produced by her dam and her half brother is a winner. Their dam is a half sister to the multiple stakes winner Maizelle and the second dam Corona Lake won the Desert Stormer Handicap.

Margano (Dynaformer - La Ville Rouge, by Carson City) (C) 4F :48.46 (2/15) breezing. He’s a full brother to Champion Barbaro. His full brothers Nicanor and Lentenor are stakes placed. A half brother, Holy Ground, is a stakes winner.

Penn's Grant (Empire Maker - Mystery Itself, by Pulpit) ) (C) 4F :48.46 (2/15) breezing. He’s the second foal produced by his dam. Penn’s Grant’s full brother won in his third start. Their dam won a listed stakes over the turf. The second dam You’d Be Surprised, win the Top Flight H. (G1), John A. Morris H.(G1) and other graded stakes. She’s a half sister to Suburban H. (G1) champ Key Contender.

Rightfully So (A.P. Indy - Society Selection, by Coronado's Quest) (C) 5F 1:00.47 (3/21) handily. This ridgling is the first colt produced by his multiple G1 winning dam. One half sister is a winner and another half sister finished fourth in her recent debut. Society Selection won the Frizette (G1) at two. Her dam was a juvenile stakes winner and placed in the BC Juvenile fillies, so there’s some precocity in this family.
