In July and August, the distances of the races for two year olds start to lengthen. Precocious pedigrees still rule, but we begin to see the unveiling of juveniles who will eventually prefer running two turns. Every day on this blog from now until the end of the Saratoga and Del Mar meetings, I’ll point out blue blooded babies from my Kiddie List database that are entered to race or have a series of decent works.

RESULTS (7/16):

Hollywood | Race 5 | 5F Cushion Track | MSW

Creative Cause (Giant's Causeway - Dream of Summer by Siberian Summer) won

Fit to Rule (Hard Spun - Sweet Minister by The Prime Minister) third

Rude Warrior (A.P. Indy - Raylene, by Tabasco Cat) fourth

Bucfiftytwo (Scat Daddy - Graceful Manor, by Cure the Blues) went 5F in 1:00.880 handily (9/35). He’s a half brother to multiple stakes winner Tale of a Dream, who won at first asking and is also a juvie stakes winner.

A. P. Azerin (A.P. Indy - Silent Sighs, by Benchmark) worked a bullet 5F in 59.60 (1/10). She has already started three times, but hasn’t hit the board. As a daughter of A.P. Indy, this isn’t surprising, and she will likely be a slower maturing juvenile. A. P. Azerin is the first filly for her dam.,Wwnner of the Santa Anita Oak (G-1). In the first three generations of this distaff family, the fillies have performed better than the colts.

Takes the Gold (Corinthian - Marquet Rent, by Marquetry) 5F 1:00.28 from the gate (1/17). He’s a half brother to the brilliant one hit wonder Dashing Debby, who won the JJ’s Dream by over 10 lengths. Another half sister was stakes placed at two.

Imperial Truth (Empire Maker - Picture Palace, by Caerleon) 4F 48.00 (3/56). Two of his three half brothers raced and won. Neither were particularly precocious. His dam need three tries to win her maiden. She’s a half to five stakes winner. She’s also a half to the dam of Champion Turf mare Forever Together and the dam of the graded stakes winning sire Broken Vow. Fourth dam Take A Stand is a blue hen.

Take Charge Indy (A.P. Indy - Take Charge Lady, by Dehere) 5F in 1:03.60 (21/34) is the fourth foal produced by his multiple G1 winning dam. Take Charge Lady won the Alcibiades (G2) at two. Two of three of Take Charge Indy’s siblings are winners and won at first asking.

Moment in Dixie (Dixieland Band - Ellie's Moment, by Kris S.) 5F 1:01.06 (3/20) is a half sister to Barbaro Stakes winner Awesome Bet. Rightfully So (A.P. Indy - Society Selection, by Coronado's Quest) 4F 49.03 (15/53) dirt training track. This ridgling is the first colt produced by his multiple G1 winning dam. One half sister is a winner and another half sister finished fourth in her recent debut. Society Selection won the Frizette (G1) at two. Her dam was a juvenile stakes winner and placed in the BC Juvenile fillies, so there’s some precocity in this family.

Be With Me (Corinthian - Sonoma Song, by Unbridled's Song)4F 49.55 from the gate (31/54) is the second foal for her dam. Her older half brother is unraced. One Slick Dude (Corinthian - Easabeau Fille, by Capote) 4F 48.37 (6/64) is a half brother to a juvenile stakes placed runner. His dam is a half to BC Juvenile winner Minister Eric and to the dam of multiple G1 winning heroine Devil May Care and her half brother UAE Derby winner Regal Ransom.

Del Mar:

Stormy Randie (Stormy Atlantic - Tipsy Girl, by Raise a Cup) 4F 50.40 (7/12). She’s a half to Santa Ysabel heroine Itty Bitty Pretty, multiple stakes winning sprinter Greeley’s Conquest and four stakes placed runners. Her dam is a stakes winner.

Risky Asset (Smart Strike - Smuggler, by Unbridled) 4F 51.44 (20/21) dirt training track. He’s the second foal in training for his dam, a Champion Three Year Old Filly.
