KIDDIE LIST 7-12-12

In July and August, the distances of the races for two year olds start to lengthen. Precocious pedigrees still rule, but we begin to see the unveiling of juveniles who will eventually prefer running two turns. In the next couple of weeks, Saratoga and Del Mar will open and exciting new prospects will make their appearance. Everyday on this blog from now until the end of the Saratoga and Del Mar meetings, I’ll point out blue blooded babies from my Kiddie List database that are entered to race or have a series of decent works.

ON THE WORK TAB (7/11):

Frisky Moment (Tribal Rule - Mister Crafty, by Mister Frisky) whipped 4F in :45.80 from the gate at Santa Anita yesterday. No, that wasn’t a typo. The Jerry Fanning trainee doesn’t have an elite pedigree, but California fans might remember his dam, who made 21 starts in the Bay Meadow/Golden Gate circuit. She’s a multiple listed stakes winner. Frisky Moment has five half siblings, two are winners, two placed and his three year old half brother is working at Golden Gate.

Eileen's Dream (Bernardini - Turbo Dream, by Unbridled) worked 4F in 49:60 handily (21/3) over the Hollywood Cushion Track yesterday. She’s a half sister to the multiple G1 winning sprinter Dream Rush and another half sister Dream Sweeper was stakes placed. Eileen’s Dream’s three year old full sister Adream has been working at Parx.

Sweet Swap (Candy Ride (ARG) - Fair Exchange, by Storm Cat) worked 4F in :48.40 handily (12/50) at Hollywood yesterday. He’s a full brother to Santa Anita Derby winner Sidney’s Candy.

ON THE WORK TAB (7/12):

Night and Day (Unbridled's Song - Serena's Song, by Rahy) drilled a :48.34 handily from the gate at Belmont (3/59). She’s a daughter of Champion Three Year Old Filly Serena’s Song and a ¾ sister to Gulfstream Park Handicap (G2) hero Harlington. Night and Day has five stakes winning half siblings, including the sire Grand Reward, Coronation Stakes (Group 1) winner Sophisticat, and the listed stakes winners Serena’s Tune and Schramsburg.

Which Market (After Market - Witchy, by Bel Bolide) worked a sharp gate work in :49.30 (17/59) at Belmont. His first crop sire has only one winner from 13 starters, but his babies aren’t meant to be super precocious sprinters. They should do well from mid summer onwards. Which Market is a half brother to Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Sprint winner Shaggy Mane and stakes placed Resident Alien. His dam is a half sister to the multiple California stakes winner Stormy Jack.

Invasor Beauty (Invasor (ARG) - She's Scrumpy, by Squadron Leader) breezed :49 flat (6/25) over the Arlington Polytrack. Her first crop sire’s sole runner finished third as a maiden in the Hoover Stakes at River Downs. Invasor Beauty is a half sister to the listed stakes winner A She’s Adorable. Her dam was a juvenile stakes winner.

Black Chocolate (Harlan's Holiday - Fast and Early, by Carson City) worked 4F in :49.80 from the gate (5/12) over the Churchill dirt. She’s a half sister to the multiple stakes winner Sharp Impact.

Rare Event (A.P. Indy - Our Rite of Spring, by Stravinsky) has been working for a month at Keenland and posted a 4F work in :48.4 (5/12) over the Polytrack. She’s the third foal out of her stakes winning dam. One half sibling is a winner and the other was unplaced in his debut, but the three year old son of Mineshaft is working at Belmont. Their dam is a half sister to the multiple graded stakes winner and hot new sire Hard Spun.

Villanesca (Distorted Humor - Balletto (UAE), by Timber Country) skipped over the main Saratoga dirt track in her 4F work this morning in :50.04 (3/4). The Darley-bred filly has a top class distaff family. Her dam won the Frizette Stakes (G1) and placed in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. Balletto’s half sister Dearly was a Group 3 stakes winner in Ireland and bore the multiple graded turf router True Cause. The second dam was a Grade 3 winner and third dam Althea was the Champion Three Year Old Filly and the grand-dam of the top sire Arch, his half sister the Grade 1 winner Acoma. Fourth dam Courtly Dee is a blue hen.

School Spirit (Pulpit - Just a Ginny, by Go for Gin) traveled 4F over the Saratoga training track in :49.82 (12/32).
She’s a half sister to Tampa Bay Derby winner Big Truck and Mohawk Stakes winner Logic Way.

My Miss Aurelia (Smart Strike - My Miss Storm Cat, by Sea of Secrets) worked a bullet 5F from the gate in 100:05 over the Saratoga main track. Her half brother Albergatti placed in the Northern Spur stakes at Oaklawn and their dam won the Desert Stormer Handicap. She’s a half sister to West Virginia Derby champ Soul Warrior.

Heavy Breathing (Giant’s Causeway – Takesmybreathaway, by Gone West) has been working steadily at Saratoga and posted a 5F 1:01.44 (2/14) over the Saratoga training track. He was mentioned in our June watch list. Heavy Breathing is a full brother to Suburban Stakes (G-1) hero Frost Giant. All five of Heavy Breathing’s half siblings are winners. His dam was unplaced in two turf starts in England, but she is a half sister to the stakes winning sire Mutakddim.
